Man tik ļoti patika, ko es uzrakstīju vēstulē saviem darba biedriem, ka nolēmu to ielikt arī šeit.
With my utmost pleasure I can inform you that I have fulfilled my desires in the New York City marathon and finished under 3h. Indeed, I did even better than I was expecting and finished in 2h52min26sec, in the 472nd place. The race was super great emotionally, as huge crowds were cheering me up during the entire 26 miles and I encourage everyone of you to take the same goal of running the NYC marathon for that :) For me the race started out with a fast pace and some crowding on the Verrazano bridge, where I tried to overtake as many as possible, then when running into and through Brooklyn I felt really easy and good although the pace was faster than planned (~6:20/mile). With these easy legs I continued all the way to Manhattan and had a really good 1/2 split (1h23min08sec). At around mile 16 my legs started to become heavier but I kept on pushing. At around mile 20 started the hardest part, a fight with myself, as the upper quadriceps were hurting on each step and my pace became slower with every mile but I wasn't there to give up. The last two miles were really hard but I kept on telling me that the finish is almost there. It was a superb feeling to cross the finish line in this good time.
Thanks to all who supported me during my marathon training!
